Course 6

Course 6: Jean-Baptiste Robin: César Franck

What Bach is to German music, César Franck is to French. Without Franck, French organ culture would have developed completely differently in the 20th and 21st centuries. The poetic and multicolored repertoire of this Belgian native still appeals to many - but in his time it was revolutionary for French organ building and composing for organ.
Jean-Baptiste Robin, titular organist of the chapel of the Palace of Versailles, has built up a great name as an international organist, composer and organ expert. He is a teacher at the Conservatory of Versailles and also at the Cathedral in Poitiers. He writes for orchestra, organ and various chamber music combinations.
